National Challenge Sponsorship
National Level Sponsors make the National KidWind Challenge happen. Contributions are used to plan
and implement the National event, offer prizes to teams and coaches, and support student travel to the
We have held the 2014 National Challenge at the USA Science & Engineering Festival and the 2016
National Challenge at WINDPOWER in New Orleans. The 2017 National KidWind Challenge
will be hosted at AWEA WINDPOWER 2017 in Anaheim, CA May 22-25, 2017.
Companies that fund the National Challenge will receive a great deal of publicity and exposure at the
National Challenge. Exposure and marketing at WINDPOWER 2017 will be determined by AWEA based on your level of contribution.
Boreas Level Sponsor ($50,000)
Boreas is the Greek name for the God of the North Winds. The impact and power of stiff northern wind is unmatched. (We know, we’re from Minnesota.); Sponsor the KidWind Challenge at this level and earn the highest level of recognition!
Sirocco Level Sponsor ($25,000)
A Sirocco wind is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and can reach hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe. Blow us away with a contribution at this level, and we’ll make sure your funds go to good use (and not a destructive one!).
Chinook Level Sponsor ($10,000)
A Chinook is a Foehn wind found in the interior West of North America, where the Canadian Prairies and Great Plains meet various mountain ranges.
Zephyros Level Sponsor ($6,000)
Zephyros is the Greek name for the God of the light west wind. It may be gentle but it’s certainly noticeable; make a contribution at this level and you’ll sponsor a full regional Challenge.
